Seller onboarding now lives inside your marketplace
This is the big one. We rebuilt the entire Stripe seller experience so it lives inside your marketplace instead of on Stripe's hosted pages. Onboarding, payouts, balances, transactions, and tax documents now all happen under your brand, in your seller's language, without ever bouncing out to Stripe.
The result is the kind of seamless, white-labeled payment experience you see on Etsy or Depop - the seller thinks of themselves as having an account with your marketplace that happens to use Stripe in the background, not the other way around.
Why this matters for you: a smoother, on-brand signup means fewer sellers drop off partway through onboarding, so more of them actually start listing and selling. The whole flow looks like your product, which builds trust and keeps sellers on your marketplace instead of bouncing them out to a third-party site. And because Stripe still runs quietly in the background handling verification, compliance, and payouts, you get that polished, Etsy-grade experience without taking on any of the regulatory heavy lifting yourself.
The seller was sent off your site to a Stripe-hosted page to fill in their details, then bounced back. A different domain, Stripe's branding, and an easy place to lose people mid-signup.
Powered by Stripe · never leaves your site
That connect.stripe.com redirect is gone. Sellers now do everything on your domain.
Embedded onboarding
Sellers connect Stripe inline, in their own language. No redirect to a Stripe-hosted page.
Native finance dashboard
Payouts, balance, transactions, account details, and tax documents - all inside your marketplace.
No separate Stripe login
New sellers never get a Stripe dashboard account. Your marketplace is their only login.
Branded emails
Payout and welcome emails now come from your marketplace, in all 6 supported languages.
Under the hood, Prometora now runs on Stripe Accounts v2, the latest version of Stripe's Connect platform. Existing sellers are completely unaffected - balances, payouts, and tax forms keep working exactly as before.
Sellers onboard without ever leaving your site
Previously, a seller connecting Stripe was redirected out to a Stripe-hosted page, filled in their details there, and got bounced back. Now the entire onboarding flow mounts inline inside your marketplace as an overlay. Same Stripe-grade identity verification and compliance, none of the context-switching.
The flow picks up your store's theme color on its buttons, and the country picker shows country names in the seller's storefront language (so a French seller sees Danemark, a Japanese seller sees デンマーク). It looks and feels like part of your product, because it is.
Powered by Stripe · your branding, your domain, your seller's language
The Stripe onboarding form mounts as an overlay right on the seller dashboard. No redirect, no new tab.
Onboarding is never forced up front, either. With deferred onboarding, a seller can connect Stripe right away, or start listing and selling first and verify later once they actually have earnings waiting - see how the self-serve flow works.
One exception: when you onboard a seller yourself through Managed Sellers, they still receive an emailed Stripe link to finish setup, exactly as before. The new embedded flow applies to sellers who sign up and connect Stripe themselves.
A native finance dashboard for your sellers
Sellers no longer have to click "Go to Stripe Dashboard" and bounce out to manage their money. There's now a Finance area right in the seller dashboard, with five inline pages: Payouts, Balance, Transactions, Account (bank details & business info), and Tax documents (1099-K and EU equivalents).
Action-required prompts from Stripe - "we need a bit more info before your next payout" - now surface as a banner at the top of the seller dashboard, where sellers actually look, instead of arriving as a Stripe email they may never open.
- May 28$1,240.00Paid
- May 21$980.50Paid
- May 14$1,512.75Paid
Every panel is a live Stripe component, styled to match your marketplace.
Finance appears for sellers who have finished connecting Stripe. Tax documents are delivered inline too, which is what makes the no-separate-Stripe-login experience possible for new sellers.
Payout and welcome emails, now from your marketplace
Three more transactional emails moved from Stripe's generic templates to your marketplace's branding: payout sent, payout failed, and a welcome email when a seller finishes onboarding. All three are translated into the 6 supported languages and respect your store's sender setup.
Compliance and tax emails (identity verification, 1099-K delivery) still come from Stripe, because Stripe is the regulated party there. Everything else now reinforces your brand instead of theirs.
- Payout sent - confirms money is on the way, in the seller's language
- Payout failed - flags a problem early so the seller can fix their bank details
- Welcome - greets sellers the moment they finish connecting Stripe
Seller Management upgrades
A batch of improvements to the owner-side tools for running your seller roster.
- Seller status-change emails: approving, rejecting, or pausing a seller now sends them a branded email, and rejections can include a reason that shows up on their dashboard
- Configurable columns on the Seller Management table - pick which fields you see, and your choice persists across page loads and tab switches
- Soft-delete sellers from Seller Management, so removing a seller no longer destroys their record
- Required-for-approval custom fields are now surfaced clearly, so you know exactly what's blocking a seller from going live
More Improvements
Other things shipped this week alongside the Stripe work.
